Christmas Project

The Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft is proud to sponsor a variety of programs for the benefit of children. Through the Community Christmas Project, Kiwanians, area churches, charitable organizations, generous individuals and groups of individuals have the opportunity to anonymously “adopt” needy children within our community for Christmas. An ‘adoptor’ then purchases needed clothing for their ‘adopted’ child(ren). This year we are pleased to announce that we will be working in conjunction with the "Coats for Kids" campaign to help provide those much needed winter coats, stretch limited resources, and lessen the burden on 'adoptors'. If you reside within MSAD #68, have children under the age of sixteen (16), and are finding it difficult to provide for them this Christmas, then we invite you to submit an application to the MSAD #68 School Superintendent's Office (63 Harrison Ave., Suite C, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426) by noon, Friaday, November 16th.

Applications will be available at the MSAD #68 Superintendent's Office, at Penquis CAP (50 North St., Dover-Foxcroft) and at area town offices beginnining November 1st. Application deadline is November 16th. Gift distribution will be Saturday, December 15th from 10:00am to noon at the Bangor Savings Bank on East Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft.

If you or your group is amongst the more fortunate, then we would ask that you consider playing a differnet role. We are encouraging both organizations and individuals to participate to meet the growing numbers of needy children in our community. Last year an estimated $10,000 in gifts were distributed to 117 needy children seeking 'adoption'. We don't want to say "no" to any child in need at Christmas time. The children need you and we need you. Become and 'adoptor".

We will be matching Adoptors to Adoptees throughout the month of November.

Adoptors typically spend between $75-125 perchild. Many adoptors do it with a friend or coworker, but if you are inclined to spend more, please consider adopting a second child.
As an adoptor you will: be given a child's 'wish list' with his/her age, gender, clothing needs and sizes; return the gifts with the 'wish list' to the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Station by Dec. 7th; enrich your Christmas knowing you made a child's Christmas special. And of course, you're invited to join us in distributing the gifts at the Bangor Savings Bank from 10:00 to noon on Saturday, December 15th!
